With the arrival of spring and summer, the desire to spend time outdoors is desirable and when you have a porch, or perhaps a large balcony or terrace, it is a shame not to equip it with all the comforts that will make it a truly habitable space.

These extensions to the house are perfect for many months of the year: they are not completely exposed to wind and cold, they can be furnished with curtains and, above all, made very comfortable with sofas, armchairs, and even swings. Again, you can use rugs and plants to make them into splendid outdoor lounges - ones where you can end up spending all spring, summer and maybe even part of autumn! Check out the ideas below:

Even with little space available, a bench and flowers can make a difference.

There are many fabrics and materials suitable for outdoor carpets to be used on a porch: a carpet will also give form to the living area, indicating where to place each item of furniture.

Even furniture colored black is always very beautiful to look at, even more so if that is a color that matches the facade of the house.

A timeless blending of classical styles where you can spend afternoons and evenings in tranquility and relaxation are the rocking chairs and gingham: wouldn't you like to have a pair of these?

Another great focus of these arrangements is a large rocking chair or, especially in recent years, a suspended bed or sofa - one that hangs from the ceiling with strong ropes.

Never underestimate the sense of calm, relaxation and privacy that plants can give: in pots or even climbing the walls or the supporting columns.

They are the ideal spots to decorate with planters / pots of all kinds, which will also be easy to prune and to water.

Do not forget to keep blankets ready for the cooler evenings - even better if they can be combined with the furniture: you will no longer want to enter your house.

To filter the sun in the hottest periods, and maybe even create a bit of privacy or avoid being pestered by too many insects, you can enclose the perimeter with curtains.

Sometimes even the dark and thick curtains can be very beautiful.

And to make summer evenings magical, there's nothing better than artfully assembled strings of light bulbs.

How would you like to decorate your porch or balcony?
