A house with interior stone walls is very rare in urban or modern contexts, and traditionally this natural material is associated with rustic furnishings - perhaps in the countryside or in the mountains. However, there are many furnishing solutions that allow you to integrate stone claddings without affecting the contemporary appearance of the design of your home, and there are many ideas to incorporate existing stone into the appearance of the room, and always finding a fascinating balance.

All this is possible in any room of the house, including the bedroom, where in most cases stone cladding covers the wall behind the bed itself - but sometimes it is the material that is used in other rooms. Check out the ideas below:

Just like plaster of a different color, or wallpaper that fills a wall with graphic motifs, stone can give a room a unique character, making it immediately seem more important and older.

Not only the type of stones chosen, but also that of the grout that separates them, and the distance between them will affect the final appearance. The thinner the divisions, with stones of natural (therefore irregular) shapes, the more likely the wall will have a rustic looks.

The size of the stones must also be decided on the basis of the expanse of the surface that they will have to decorate, according to taste.

Light stones, just like white paint, amplify the brightness of the rooms by increasing its' spaciousness.

A stone wall can even accommodate shelves. And they could even be made with small stone slabs of the same type!

When stone or bricks are placed in a room on a single wall, the idea of framing them with white plaster that seems to touch them is also nice, and it's as if they reveal the material underneath.

Another idea, also used for exposed bricks, is to paint them white (whitewashing).

There are also many claddings on the market made of stone laminates of various kinds, or even different shapes, which have a decidedly modern look.

For a rustic style room, you could think about filling the room walls with stones that are perfectly interlocked, like a mosaic.

There is also the option of covering only a portion of the wall with stones, which has irregular contours and stands out on a background of smooth plaster.

Or create a frame on the stone wall with plasterboard, or even masonry, so as to create a stoney niche for the headboard to nest in.
