Our four-legged friends are a source of joy and really keep us company, but it is indisputable that they are also the cause of a lot of dirty laundry: whether it is clothes, sheets, blankets and throws that we use on beds and sofas, it is inevitable that, in the long run, these things get covered with pet hair.

There are many ways we can deal with this problem, of course. But it's almost impossible to get rid of all the hair from these items before washing them. Often, our own hair is also the culprit. So, how can we deal with this issue effectively? Below, are some simple remedies you can consider trying:

  • Curlers: an unconventional method, but one to try. If you have any old curlers that you no longer use, they could become the way to catch hair inside the washing machine. Just put them in the wash together with a load of clothes. Just be careful not to use them if there are delicate garments to be washed (woolen items or tights, for example).
  • Dishwashing sponge: these sponges also work and you just need to insert them into the drum. It's best if these sponges don't have an abrasive side which could ruin more delicate items.
  • Dryer fabric softener sheets: Don't throw used softener sheets away. Even if they are no longer scented, their material will catch hair and fur during washing cycle.
  • Wet wipes: Use these like the fabric softener sheets. It is best to use wet wipes of good quality (which are thicker and robust). Cheaper, more fragile ones might break up and make a mess of your wash!

One of these tips could be very useful for your next wash!
