For those who are particularly creative, almost any object can be transformed into something else. Even furniture that is very basic and ordinary can, with a bit of imagination be transformed into something wonderful.

This is definitely true for certain types of objects that are simple to disassemble and reassemble. Given this fact, IKEA furniture is ideal: it is cheap and, usually, can be assembled (and disassembled) without any great effort or need for external help. We are obviously talking about objects that are small enough to be easily handled, of course.

Are you curious to understand exactly what we are talking about? Read on to find out more:

There some users on TikTok who share tutorials and tips related to the world of home design. In this case, we're talking about @dalia.ea, an account managed by Dalia Aly (who is an architect with a passion for art, design and interior decoration). @ dalia.ea shared, among other clips, a video in which she shows how she transformed some bookcases bought from IKEA into a wonderful cabinet for the living room. The procedure, which can be seen in the video, is simple and takes only a few steps.

First of all, you will need to buy two bookcases - one with six shelves, one other with three shelves, six picture frames (with glass) and some round, wooden bowls.

  • Join the two bookcases together, positioning them horizontally to form a low, long cabinet.
  • Disassemble the smaller bookcase and use the various parts to create the internal shelves of the new piece of furniture you are creating.
  • Clad the inside of the glass of the picture frames with canvas, in order to transform them into opaque doors which you will use to close the front of the cabinet.
  • Drill holes in the wooden bowls, with the same diameter as the feet that you would have used.

  • Glue the bowls to each other, forming a sort of sphere that will be attached to the base of the cabinet (to act as improved feet).
  • Insert the orginal feet into these spheres to secure them to the base of the cabinet.

With these few steps you will be able to make a personalized piece of furniture that you say you created with your own hands. Naturally, everyone is free to make changes and variations according to their own tastes. For example, you could use completely different feet.
