Make Christmas decorations with creative recycling projects: you can even use old garden tools

Anyone who has to tend a garden, however big or small, knows that this is constant work, for which you need a whole set of tools to hand. Spades, shovels, trowels, rakes and more - these are tools that you must have. But, there always comes a time when these tools wear out or get damaged and become useless.

At this point, you can throw them away. Alternatively, you can use them to create some unique, rustic decorations. At Christmas, for example, you can decorate the home with creatively recycled garden tools, such as those shown below:

A broken spade, without a handle, can become a very nice, rustic decoration for Christmas. For example, you could paint it red and then write something festive in white on it using a stencil.

When it comes to larger spades or shovels, they are perfect to decorate using decoupage: there are a thousand paper prints to choose from!

You can use almost any old garden tool for decoration: just cover them with bows, greenery or any other typical Christmas ornaments.

It's also nice to use a still-intact spade. You can prop one up against a wall, at the entrance to the home or even in a corner of the living room, if you want.

With a little imagination, you can also decorate garden trowels (like those used for small pots and plants).

It is not necessary to paint the tools: just using fabric bows, raffia, hessian, bells and various other ornaments will surfice.

Rakes often come already painted green, so there's not much work to do to turn one into a stylized Christmas tree. To decorate it, you can use, for example, colorful buttons! Or maybe use painted metal bottle caps, wool pompoms or anything else you can think of!

Joing several rakes together will give you a very attractive tree to be secured to a door, a wooden siding or a wall.

With shovels that still have their handles, you can create snowmen.

A few styrofoam balls will make it look like a shovel has scooped up a lot of snow!

Instead of throwing away your old garden tools, recycle them into Christmas decorations!
