Despite constant care, the toilet always ends up dirty. And although some dirt can be easily removed during routine cleaning, some dirt removal needs more. In particular, this type of dirt is that caused by limescale build-up (which deposits at the waterline and the bottom of the toilet's pan).

To help us clean this type of dirt, we can use some effective DIY remedies: it is a matter of pouring products into the toilet bowl during the evening, and leaving them to work overnight.

We all know that pouring a little pure bleach into the toilet in the evening and leaving it to work overnight can work wonders. But this is not exactly environment-friendly. So, here are some alternatives with a decidedly lower ecological impact.

  • White vinegar: Pour a cup of white vinegar into the toilet bowl and leave overnight. The next morning, any remaining dirt residue will be much easier to remove with a toothbrush or toilet brush.
  • Mild bleach (non-chlorine): You can use this like regular bleach, although you may need to do it several nights in a row to get the desired results.
  • Citric acid: dissolve 200 grams in a liter of water, pour into a spray bottle and shake well. Us the spray as a toilet degreaser. Then pour a cup of the mix into the bowl to act overnight. This is the most pleasant smelling remedy.
  • Baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and tea tree oil: make a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide so that you can be spread it easily, and before applying it, also pour 10 drops of tea tree oil into it. Rub into the areas to be treated and leave overnight. This method disinfects as well as perfumes the entire bathroom.

These methods are worth trying, don't you think?
