Old olive buckets: 10 amazing ideas to turn them into fantastic planters

Old, metal olive buckets - buckets with multiple horizontal slits arranged in rows over the entire surface to drain olives of their oil - are ideal objects for decorating in a vintage style.

The metal they are made of is usually very resistant, and their rustic appearance can be softened with plants and flowers that can be placed inside them: in this way, they become a decorative piece in a perfectly country-chic style, to be used both at home and in the garden. These buckets are also available commercially and in all shapes and sizes. Take a look at the ideas selected below:

Generally, these buckets still have their typical metal color - and are perhaps galvanized -  but not infrequently they are coated with a patina of rust. In this case, it might be a nice idea to paint a parts of the bucket, so that a nice contrast is created.

They can be used as vases to fill with cut flowers (real or artificial)!

And they can also become perfect flower pots, to hold and hide containers that are perhaps not exactly beautiful to look at (and so that only the stem and the crown of the chosen plant shows).

Those that are not too large can be hung up and become adorable hanging planters.

They go great inside a home, perhaps with an always-trendy plant like sansevieria.

Another way to display them is by attaching them to some vertical support, such as an old wooden door. Or on a wall or  railing or fence.

In addition to the traditionally flared shape, you can also find others - such as cylindrical buckets.

They can be placed on wooden logs, on metal pedestals or any other support you want.

They can also be found in smaller sizes - used to create irresistible country compositions.

And there are also oval-shaped buckets - smaller, and very nice as centerpieces!

Would you like to use old olive buckets as planters and pot holders to decorate your home or garden?
