Many of the items you plan to throw away could become beautiful planters, did you know this?

You have bought a few plants in a shop and, once back home, you suddenly realize there are no ready-to-use planters or pots available: do not despair, you can always use some lateral thinking and undertake some original, creative recycling projects! Converting articles of all kinds into flower pots is one of the most popular activities in the world of DIY. Depending on the type of plant, you can find some great ideas, and generally the category of plants that lends itself more to being planted in unusual objects is that of succulents.

But also many seasonal flowers can be planted in damaged and forgotten objects - which may be stuck in some closet, the attic or the cellar. From golf bags to floor lamps, see how many ways you could make yourself a very unique planter:

If no one uses the golf bag any more (or maybe you have one which is simply worn out), it can come back to life as a plant holder, and no one will ever forget seeing this.

There is always something very fascinating and charming about old, metal bird cages which are often used in unexpected ways - frequently as hanging planters, and beautiful when decorated with many different types of plants.

Outdoors you can find a use for many metal objects, galvanized, rusty or not: buckets and pails are a favorite.

Also popular are old vats and tin basins of all sizes, placed on walls, on the ground, even on the legs of an old sewing machine.

Climbing or drooping plants are also very popular, perhaps placed inside an old, converted object (like a rusty funnel), and are a great idea. They almost make one think that nature has decided to surprise us and grow in the most unlikely places!

And how about an old metal teapot hanging under a canopy or awning?

Mini compositions of succulent plants inside ladles will amaze all your guests and visitors.

And if you have shoes that are no longer repairable and have made plant pots out of them, they would surely be a memorable attraction for any visitor to your home.

Her is an old floor lamp, repurposed in a very unusual way.

And even a lampshade frame could be nice as a support hanging in the middle of some creeper - which would then start twisting itself around it!

Have you ever used any unusual object as a planter?
