The bedside tables are indispensable furniture pieces for the bedroom: unless, that is, if you rather choose to use shelves or a headboard that is equipped in order to have space for us to hold that which makes us comfortable and to keep close at hand near the bed. So, it is essential to have a point of we can reach easily simply by reaching out one's arm.

If you would like to build this using DIY projects, a simple, inexpensive and completely customizable way is to recycle wooden boxes or crates: both those already used - and which are usually very sturdy - or those that are sold as containers for furnishing. See below for some ideas to make beautiful bedside tables:

Mounted horizontally, with handles on the sides, and four wooden supports of the same color. Taller than with simple feet but not enough to be too high: the internal compartment holds books, perhaps, and on top of it rests the lamp, an object holder perhaps for remote controls or a mobile phone.

There are very simple DIY projects, also suitable for those who still have little DIY experience, and which also work in the children's room. The important thing is to remember to always sand and smooth all surfaces, especially when using old reconditioned wooden crates.

The color of natural wood is not always what we want to see in the decor of the room. Or perhaps the box already had drawings or some imperfections on it: then painting helps us to cover every defect and customizes the project so that it matches the rest of the furniture. And maybe you can add some decorating twine wrapped around the handles.

If the box is very wide and long, it can be placed vertically and even accommodate a shelf or two, so as to make better use of the internal space.

The choice of sealing products, varnishes and various stains can customise the table in many ways.  But also choice of the feet style or other supports are all customisable options that allow you to express your own style.

And you can use, as legs, even metal pipes assembled with a DIY project. Or maybe you can recycle the supports of some old coffee table.

It's easy to make a pair of identical, matching nightstands using wooden crates.

Equally beautiful are wooden boxes, like the wine boxes fro example, which have no dividing planks but each side is made of solid wood panels.

For a larger and more spacious bedside tables, you can also join two boxes together!
