Too many books on shelves or on the floor; objects that accumulate around the bathroom sink or on the kitchen shelves; plants everywhere, and much more: to tidy up the house, extra shelves, closets and tables are often needed in every room. And we could make these by recycling wooden boxes/crates. You can use fruit crates, but also more robust, more decorative, wooden wine boxes.

The more robust the boxes are, the more DIY furnishing options you have available. Check out the ideas below:

A precariously balanced piles of books creates disorder, but as soon as you place them inside the boxes, they become decorative!

And not just books: using the boxes as open cabinets allows you to clear the surroundings of clutter.

Then, if you want to make a cabinet, this can be very simple, with metal legs placed under a column of boxes.

Furthermore, boxes can be used as shelves mounted on the wall. They will be beautiful treated or left natural.

And a nice large box, with legs of the right size, becomes a small table to be placed next to an armchair, or maybe even a bedside table.

Less decorative boxes become unique with a coat of paint, and here you will have furnishing solutions to use in every room where they are needed.

A nice idea could be to paint only the interiors and leave the outsides natural.

But even having fun with lots of paints and colorful decorations could be productive.

Instead of a row of vases on the floor, why not place them inside boxes?

You could equip entire walls with boxes: a rustic alternative to a standard bookcase that frames an entrance.

They are ideal as rustic wall units in a DIY kitchenette.

By adding wheels, they can become mobile containers for tidying up the pantry or any other rooms in the house.

Have you got any wooden boxes to recycle? Which project would you like to try?
