Among the thousand ideas in which to convert pallets there are definitely those of making bookcases from them: this is furniture with shelves which are no too deep (or wide) and in which we can arrange rows and rows of books. Considering how much a shelf loaded with books can weigh, the shelves must be strong enough to withstand the load. So, the wood should be in good condition and should have a loading profile suitable for its intended purpose.

By disassembling and reassembling various parts of a pallet, you can create many different bookcase models, from the simplest to the most sophisticated designs, and all of them can always be further customized with a few coats of paint. Check out the ideas below:

Assemble the various parts to create a panel with a few simple shelves on which to place your books: it is an easy and quick idea, which you can fasten to the wall or even just let it rest against the wall, and behind it you will have space to hide some objects like unsightly wires.

A mini bookcase that replaces the bedside table, but which could also be nice next to a sofa.

For a more refined piece of furniture, boards can be added that close the front side a bit, framing each shelf of the bookcase.

By joining the boards of the pallets to form panels, furniture of any shape can be created, even ones that perfectly fill the available space in the corner of a room or on a landing.

A scaffolding frame with shelves to mount on the wall: it is rustic and functional, and the books themselves color it. But of course, it can also be transformed with a simple coat of paint.

The boards of pallets can be used to design various compartments, with the bottom or back made with plywood or some other type of wood.

But a similar design is beautiful even without a backing wall, for an open bookcase that can be placed against the wall or even used as a dividing element in the middle of the room.

Many long and vertical slits, arranged in a harmonious way: a perfect balance between a rustic material and a more modern and refined design.

And why not also take advantage of the cubed blocks that form the dividers between the layers of wooden pallets? They can become the uprights that support each wooden shelf of an original bookcase.

More ideas to use the thick wood from pallets - it's a bit as if only the fronts of the pallets were used, only much higher!

With recycled wood such as that of pallets you can also create furniture with a more unusual shape, such as a triangular bookcase.
