When the intense cold arrives, it is difficult to go around without covering your head with a warm hat: in winter, even when we go to the ski slopes, we take out headbands and woolen hats that become our companions on these cold days.

As accessories, we tend to combine hats with the rest of our clothes, and to get perfectly customized ones, those who know how to crochet can use this technique and make them in every shape, color and size. With pompoms on top, yarns of different shades, and lots of beautiful textures to choose from, wool beanies are an ever-popular project to crochet. Check out some of them below:

This is a project for those who have already mastered the basics of crochet and want to try their hand at something a little more challenging: this hat with a beautiful honeycomb relief pattern is worked on in two parts. First, the ribbed elastic edge is created, and then the honeycomb pattern is created, gradually narrowing up its length to finally close at the top with a round shape. On the top you can add a faux fur pompom or even one made with wool, or some other decoration you like.

This project, with beautiful rhombus designs in relief, is created by using some basic stitches, suitably alternated with each other: single, half-high and high-rise stitches, sometimes ribbed on the front or on the back are the ones that give life flat softly to this elegant design. Here too, the pompom on top is to be chosen as desired.

The peanut stitch: this requires a lot of yarn, but produces a thick and soft texture perfect for garments to be worn in intense cold. The rest is done by the shade of the yarn you choose.

Even the simplest shapes become unique when yarns with particular colors are used, such as various types of melange: the choice is truly vast.

When you are really into crochet, wool hats are one of the projects with which you can start to indulge yourself by trying not only different stitches, but also by using colorful textures. For a hat to use in the mountains, stylized trees are ideal!

This hat is really thick and very warm: after the very high band of the edge, worked with wide ribs, the dome is made with two yarns: a thicker one that is embraced by the processing with the thinnest one, just like you do when baskets are processed. So thick yarn is like twine that is rolled up and included in the weave as you go. Choose a contrasting color and you will get a very pleasant effect.

Have you ever made wool hats using crochet?
