Most modern houses are equipped with radiators for heating. They are very common, but they are not exactly the most beautiful piece of furniture in the house. But what can be done to improve their look?

These 17 ideas could be the solutions you're looking for to make the radiators "disappear" from your home and could even make them more efficient.

1. How about a useful hall table?

If you don't like seeing the radiator and you need a surface to "empty your pockets" on when you get home, this solution could be right for you.

2. Cladding

If you don't mind the basic design of the radiator, but would like to refine it, you can clad them using wooden planks/struts colored to match the rest of the house. Very elegant!

3. Completely hidden, but...

A cabinet completely covering the radiator will be a good idea for those who want to hide them away. If you want the heat to escape at certain times, however, you can insert a door which can be opened as needed.

4. Structured with mirror: WOW!

This structural arrangement hides away the radiator and the mirror above it gives the area beauty and elegance.. no one will know or notice that the radiator is even there!

5. Radiator frame?

If, in addition to camouflaging the radiator, you also want to add some extra furniture, try putting in a structure that "hugs" the radiator. Above it, you can have a handy shelf and on the sides, two small cupboards for storage.

6. Radiators in the bathroom: how to use them?

Heat is useful for drying our laundry and, especially in the winter months, we know how difficult it is to do this quickly. Given this, a drying rack positioned on the radiator could be very useful.

7. Wood and iron: a winning combination!

Iron and wood are two elements that combine perfectly. A simple side-table structure - like the one shown here - will effectively mute the presence of a radiator.

8. Shelf with drawers

If the radiator is in the corridor/hallway and you could put a shelf up above it - perhaps with drawers for storing small objects, and adding a mirror or a painting above it. Wonderful!

9. Radiator under the window...

In this case, you can camouflage the radiator by put a shelf on top of it and perhaps adding some attractive plants.

10. "I don't want to see it ever again"

OK, done! A closed cabinet with some side shelves is what you need. This way, you never have to see the radiator again.

11. Slatted structure

A wooden cover with large, separate slats will not only cover up the radiator, but will allow the heat to pass through more easily.

12. Color contrast

To "beautify" a radiator, sometimes it is sufficient just to put up a structure that contrasts with it (in terms of color). This is a simple, but elegant, solution to consider.

13. Small, green corner

If you love plants, flowers and nature in general, you could take advantage of a radiator cover to create your own little green corner.

14. Table under the window

A semicircular or a rectangular table could be positioned above a radiator that is under a window in your home. A few potted plants will complete the look.

15. Simple table top

Sometimes it doesn't take much to transform a small spot in your home. Adding just a shelf, perhaps in wood, can make all the difference

16. Radiator becomes a wardrobe...

This solution is perfect for those who want to maximize the space in their home. Here's an example of a radiator which has been enclosed in a wardrobe. The lower part is occupied by the radiator and the upper part has the shelves for storage. A brilliant idea!

17. A passion for pallets...

Pallets are the icons of recycling and can also be used here. The radiator you want to make disappear could be hidden behind one of these. What do you think of this simple, fast and cheap solution?

There are many ways to make radiators "disappear", the important thing is to maintain a balance between elegance and practicality.
