Transforming a simple object into a work of art is possible. It can be done quite easily and on the cheap.

In fact, for DIY and craft enthusiasts, doing something like this can be child's play. With a little creativity, anything can be transformed into something else that has added value.

The project we describe below uses a simple IKEA picture frame to create of an enchanting and very special artwork.

This project can be seen in a video posted on the @ikeahack Instagram account, which shares projects that can be done using IKEA products. In this case, a basic picture frame can be transformed into a work of art to be displayed proudly on a wall in your home. The procedure is quite simple and you will need:

  • An IKEA Ribba picture frame
  • An IKEA Hilja curtain
  • PVA glue
  • Drawing pins

The prcedure is as follows:

  • Open up the frame by separating its parts. What you will need at the start is the back of the frame which, in this case, will act as a canvas;
  • On the upper part of its surface, spread out the PVA glue with the help of a paint brush.

  • Once the glue has been spread out, take the curtain and place it on the canvas, sticking it down only in certain points and leaving it raised in others. Creases and waves will form which will take on a three-dimensional look;
  • Secure the curtain to the back with drawing pins, so that the fabric stays firm and secured in the corners;
  • At this point, you can easily put back the frame (and without the glass). Now your work of art is ready to be exhibited.

You can watch the procedure in the video linked to below. Have you ever wanted to create your own work of art?
