Color-coding is a habit that is ingrained in societies all over the planet. For example, in a nursery, pink is for girls, blue is for boys. There's nothing wrong with this, of course, except perhaps for the fact that it can be a bit restrictive or unoriginal. So, when you think of it, what prevents you from furnishing a room for children in shades of orange, green, or even grey?

After all, what really matters is that the environment is welcoming, serene and fun. Toys, furnishing accessories, linen and everything that makes these rooms feel alive, will do the rest. Grey, as well as a wall with black polka dots on a white field, go very well with warm and natural shades such as terracotta and brick and wooden floors.

Green is a color that lends itself, in its infinite range of shades, to decorating a nursery, perhaps with more intense shades on the walls and more delicate ones for the furniture - or vice versa!

Mint-gray, white, a large and warm carpet: a bright and pleasant room to look at.

Multiple colored polka dots on a white wall, arranged at random: it takes very little to decorate the walls, and without necessarily resorting to using pink or light blue.
