Christmas trees to decorate the exterior of the home: 11 suggestions for fantastic DIY projects

If there is any symbol that immediately makes us think of the Christmas holidays, it is certainly the tree decorated with ornaments and fairy lights. In our homes, these trees come in all shapes and sizes and are decorated according to individual tastes. And even outdoors, you can put up a tree. Additionally, there is no reason you have to use only a tree which is outside, already grown and is in a hefty tree pot.

In fact, using various DIY projects, you can make customized Christmas trees using a myriad of different objects. Take a look at the examples below:

If you have a pallet, or other reclaimed wood from which you can make boards of roughly equal size, creating a stylized Christmas tree like this one is child's play.

Using the same method, you can also create a group of trees in different sizes - perhaps painted differently too - which will create a very scenic grouped decoration.

And nothing prevents you from creating a non-traditional tree that bends over to the side.

You can paint these trees however you like, and they will make you think of the curved and bizarre world of the Grinch.

An even easier project is to take a pallet and, without disassembling it, sand it and paint it: it can become the background panel on which to "draw" a tree using strings of lights (to which decorations can be added - just like on real Christmas trees).

And how about a tree created just by using lights alone? They will only be visible at night, but they will be truly spectacular.

And they don't necessarily have to be three-dimensional cones: you can also create a triangular frame of wooden sticks and decorate them with lights.

Another idea for combining pallets and pieces of wood (discs cut from from branches, logs and trunks): a sort of mosaic on the background of a pallet!

And if instead you wanted to create a tree using other objects, one idea could be to use spherical plastic bowls. Take two of the same size and glue them to create transparent baubles which can be stacked!

For a more naturalistic touch, green branches positioned to look like the boughs of a miniature tree, is a very nice idea.

And if you add a hat on top, your tree can look a bit like one of Santa's elves!

Happy Holidays!
