Among the many ingredients that are commonly used in the kitchen - and which are excellent substitutes for countless cleaning products - one that should not be underestimated is corn starch. Very easy to find in stores or online, it is very cheap and extremely versatile. Since it is a very fine and soluble, it is slightly abrasive but will not damage delicate surfaces. This is why corn starch helps to clean marks and stains on materials such as porcelain or steel without damaging them.

For this reason, it is useful to always keep corn starch to hand. And it can be used for difficult bathroom cleaning, especially in the case of unwanted marks in the toilet. More delicate than baking soda, corn starch can be used by itself or as a compound, homemade paste when needed. Read on to find out more:

In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 10 drops of tea tree essential oil (which has useful antibacterial and antifungal properties). If you want, you want you can also add a tablespoon of baking soda. Add a few drops of water - just enough to make a paste that you can rub on the stains (with the help of an old brush with stiff bristles). Leave the paste on to act for about ten minutes.

In a spray bottle, pour in water and vinegar in equal parts (if you want, you can also add 5 drops of tea tree essential oil, but this is not strictly necessary), shake well and spray on all the areas that you have already treated with the paste. When the reaction between vinegar and baking soda ends, scrub well with a sponge or brush and then rinse off. For optimal results, when rinsing, use hot water.

After flushing the toilet, you can also pour half a cap of mild bleach (the type without chlorine) into the toilet bowl, leaving it to act overnight.

With cleanings like these - to be done about once a week - you can keep your toilet spotless without having to resort to chemicals that are more harmful to the environment. Have you tried using cornstarch in cleaning chores yet?
