Who said that a small kitchen can't still be comfortable and welcoming? Kitchens are environments in which we spend a lot of time: from breakfast to teatime to dinner in the evening. For this reason, we should always pay close attention to how the kitchen is organized and we should try to make it a comfortable, welcoming and functional part of the home. Unfortunately, we don't always have the space we would like, but we can still optimize what we have by being creative.

So what can we do if our kitchen is tiny? Listed below are some ideas which might inspire you:

1. Kitchen corners

Taking advantage of all the available walls using kitchen corner units is always a good idea to optimise work surfaces and wall units for storing utensils and food supplies.

2. Islands

An island unit is always a good idea to save space which is occupied by the kitchen table, especially when the kitchen is an open space adjacent to the living room: it will allow you to divide the two areas and will give you more shelves.

3. Shelving

How about a table that disguises itself as a shelf? We are sure that your kids will like it a lot and it gives the environment a more dynamic, metropolitan look.

4. Wall racks

Reclaim space by using shelves, hooks, rails and hanging baskets mounted on the walls, even on those walls usually left empty.

5. Retractable shelves

How about a useful retractable shelf instead? It looks like a normal cabinet door, but by pulling on the handle, a practical countertop is exposed!

6. Foldable table

A foldable wall table that can be opened when it's meal time is the ideal solution if you want more space in the kitchen.

7. Furniture or a table?

Even a table that can be closed up into a cabinet can be a fantastic solution: some models can even store the chairs, for an even smaller footprint!

8. Drawers

How about replacing standard shelves with practical drawers? You will be able to gain a lot of space inside these units and you can have a pantry too!
