How nice would it be to be able to decorate the home for every season? And how satisfying would it be to make the decorations yourself- perhaps by recycling old objects that are laying around at home or by buying cheap items at low-cost shops? With a wish to be creative, there are many wonderful projects that you can carry out at almost zero cost to make your home even more welcoming.

Today, with the help of the TikTokker Jadriana Soard, we explain how to make a wonderful autumnal decoration using simple objects that you can find in your kitchen (or in any home improvement store).

To make this simple decoration you need very few materials, which we are sure you can find very easily:

  • a plastic butter dish;
  • three small glass salt shakers;
  • opaque, white tempera paint;
  • black tempera paint;
  • a wide-tipped tempera paint brush;
  • a fine-tipped tempera paintbrush;
  • PVA glue;
  • decorative dry ears of wheat.

Got all these? Then you are ready to begin!

Making this decoration requires only a few, very simple steps:

Start by taking the butter dish and salt shakers and painting them with the opaque, white tempera paint using the large brush. When the paint is dry, use the fine-tipped brush to weather the shakers with the black tempera paint to give the objects that somewhat scruffy appearance (typical of shabby chic style).

When the black paint is dry, it's time to assemble the pieces of your decoration: glue the shakers to the butter dish. Then put the dry ears of wheat into the salt cellars (as if they were vases).

Your decoration is now ready to show off! Watch @life_at_the_coop's full tutorial on TikTok to see the whole process and the result you'll get. This decoration can be used in any season: simply replace the wheat with flowers and plants from the current season: for example, a flowering branch for spring, ripe fruit for summer, pine cones and berries (sprayed with fake snow) for winter.

As you can see, there are so many possibilities for those who know how to use their imagination: are you ready to make yours?
