The bathroom is the part of the home that needs the most care when it comes to hygiene and organization. And most want their bathroom to look good too.

Satisfying both of these conditions becomes difficult when there is very little space available. And not everyone has the financial resources to buy custom-made furniture or expensive furnishing accessories to decorate their bathroom. Therefore, it becomes important to find compromises which are economically sound, but also effective.

Here, then, are some great, low-cost ideas to make a small bathroom a functional and well-kept location.

An old, repainted wooden ladder can become, with very little effort, a piece of furniture with shelves and which can be positioned practically anywhere - even behind the toilet.

Any wooden cabinet that matches the height of the sink can be cut in half to fit perfectly around the base of the sink. Even having this done by a carpenter will certainly cost much less than buying a custom-made piece.

Using wicker baskets as shelves is a eally original and pretty space-saving idea (and cheap too). And you can store anything you like in them.

To organize make-up brushes (and similar), there is no need to spend a lot of money. Making DIY organizers using glass jars (or other containers) is very simple and cheap.

By covering a cardboard box with twine, cord or rope, you can make a practical and unique storage container, ideal for organizing toilet rolls, for example.

Pallets are another great classic of cheap, green DIY furniture creations. In this case, making a narrow and functional toilet paper holder for any space is a very useful idea.

And the wicker baskets (in addition to being used as shelves, as we have seen above) can be very practical and elegant containers to optimize the space availalbe in the bathroom.

And then there are classic plastic organizers, available practically everywhere for cheap. It is a slightly less ecologically friendly idea than the others we have illustrated above, but is economically advantageous and very effective for saving space.

Have you ever tried any of these solutions?
