11 projects to inspire you to furnish your home with reclaimed wood
What material is able to give us warmth and hospitality to our home more than wood? It is difficult to imagine finding a material which is as equally versatile and easy to work with. It is the material that most DIY projects use, especially those aimed at furnishing or decorating a house.
For the best results, we generally go to shops that sell various types of pre-shaped wood - from boards to beams and so on. But for those who have a bit of experience, or a great desire to test themselves with DIY projects, recycled and/or reclaimed wood can be used. Here are some project ideas:
From the entrance, to the patio, to many other spots in the house, a simple and sturdy bench on which to sit (or on which to place ornaments) always comes in handy. A model like this one is not difficult to make.
And what about tall, slim tables? They are suitable for furnishing corridors, but also to create a useful surface in the living room, especially behind the sofa. And in some cases, by adding stools, they can be a table where you eat your dinner while watching TV - like counters in a bar!
The more experienced can fashion reclaimed wood - when they find a lot of it - into beautiful bedframes.
A thick and sturdy wooden table top - flat and left in its natural color: it just needs some hairpin legs to become a coffee table or even a desk ... it all depends on the length of the legs!
Imagine you have a large wooden board that you don't know what to do with: you could cut it into equal segments to turn them into a set of wall-mounted shelves.
A smaller board, on the other hand, can become a tray for the bathtub.
With recycled wood - perhaps from wine boxes - you can create a useful toilet paper roll holder in a rustic style.
And how about this station for sorting incoming mail near the entrance to the house?
A square beam can be divided into cubes, and each can be a mounted on the wall as a tiny shelf: all together on one wall, these cubes will make a great impression.
