Imaginatively recycle wooden fruit crates to turn them into unique furniture

An extra footstool in the living room, a plant holder to keep the pots off the ground, or just to add a splash of color to add to a room, or mounting open shelves to decorate the walls and have more space to fill with useful objects: with wooden boxes / crates you can do all this, and more.

You can use those used to transport fruit and - even better - the more robust and spacious ones that become ideal to make more durable furniture. You will have to sand them to eliminate any roughness and avoid the risk of getting hurt by wood splinters.  These boxes (crates) often become really eye-catching items if you paint them with a couple of coats of paint, and there are so many ways to furnish your home by recycling wooden crates.

A coat of paint, some wheels and here we have an overturned box bookcase. Placed on its side, it becomes a mini bookcase which can be used also as a small table, to be placed side by side with sofas or armchairs.

If you like to have magazines handy in the living room, you can make your own magazine rack with a wooden fruit / wine crate.

And you don't necessarily need to change their shape or add accessories: even as "baskets" they work great for magazines, and more.

If, on the other hand, it is necessary to use the space on a wall for a super compact mini bookcase, a sturdy box mounted on the wall and equipped with simple ropes to act as a retainers on the front - so the books and newspapers do not fall out - is an economic idea and is also captivating.

Lighter crates such as fruit crates - as long as they are in good condition - can provide the shelves inside an open frame for an alternative and delightfully rustic bedside table.

An open cabinet to assist with breakfast services: just a few boxes stacked on top of each other and fixed securely to the others and to a wall provides a rustic touch.

Mounted on the wall in a staggered manner: they are the countryside and rustic versions of the modern modular elements of many furniture collections.

Painted in vibrant, bright colors, they create an incredible contrast against a dark wall!

A mini table to use as a base for plant pots: it's cuter than just placing them on the ground!

When the crates are very sturdy and large wooden boxes, they become the ideal raw material to build a DIY seat or a footstool.

And with a minimum of effort, they are always very cute as simple containers for flowerpots and plants around the house.

Have you ever recycled the wooden boxes in a creative way to decorate your home?
