Say goodbye to the smell of sweat: tips for keeping clothes pristine

Regardless of the temperature in the area we find ourselves in, it is very likely that - after a certain amount of time - we will start to sweat. This is a physiological reaction that inevitably leads to the staining of our clothes, but not only that: in fact, when sweat combines with deodorants, the stains can be pronounced.

However, we can adopt some strategies both to "limit" the appearance of sweat stains and to remove both old and new stains.

Sweating is unavoidable: even when we use the best products and/or move around very little, sweating will occur. Some precautions can help, such as using talcum powder or anti-perspirant deodorants, but sweating cannot be completely surpressed.

Given this, how do we remove unsightly sweat stains?

In the case "fresh" (new) stains, it is advisable to spray a stain remover on the area you want to treat and then proceed delicately by scrubbing with a brush until the spray has been absorded. This process is a pre-treatment and the garment will still need to be washed. Alternatively, it is possible to pre-treat the stains using white vinegar: spray the vinegar on the stain, then leave the item to soak in a basin containing cold water for a few minutes. But about already-dried, older stains?

Sweat stains that are not treated promptly can create yellow marks, especially on white clothing and these can be difficult to remove.

In reality, what really makes the difference is not the product we use but the brush we use to scrub the garment! In fact, a special laundry brush plays a fundamental role when it comes to removing stains and streaks. That said, we would like to recommend a winning strategy for these cases: pre-treat the stains by soaking the items in a large bucket, add a cup of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) and wait about ten hours.

After this soak, do a regular wash of the items. The clothes will come out of the washing machine clean and fragrant: so, say goodbye stains and the smell of sweat!
