It has been known for some time now that chemical fertilizers are harmful to the environment and to humans; rich in nitrogenous compounds, phosphorus, nitrates and potassium, these fertilizers can pollute the air, soil and groundwater, endangering the health of the entire ecosystem.

And for this reason, today many commercial agricultural sectors are returning to the methods of the past, which are more natural and respectful of the environment. And this is also true for general gardening.

But the advantages of natural methods do not end here: by recycling, we save both time and money.

Today we show you how to make a natural fertilizer based on egg shells.

Naturally rich in calcium - an essential mineral for the healthy growth of plants - egg shells are an excellent natural, recycled fertilizer. If you have a composter at home you can simply add them to this. But, if you prefer, you can also make a liquid fertilizer.

To prepare this eggshell-based fertilizer for your plants, you will need two simple ingredients:

  • egg shells;
  • unsalted vegetable cooking water.

Prepare this fertilizer by simply breaking up the egg shells and leaving them to infuse in a still-hot pot of water you used to boil vegetables. Wait for this infusion to cool down, then simply pour it into a watering can and use it to water your plants.

Very rich in minerals, this infusion will not only allow you to prevent waste, but will also enrich the soil, feeding your plants with all the nutrients necessary for proper growth. Remember that you can only use the cooking water if it is not salted, as salt could kill your plants.

This is a great way to care for your plants in an eco-friendly way!
