Old tyres: 11 creative ways to recycle them for your garden

There is very little that is beautiful or graceful about an old tyre: in fact, they are often considered a rather annoying type of waste to dispose of. Yet, with the right creative idea, an old tyre can become something beautiful and unique that can decorate a garden with panache. In fact, tyres are objects that maintain a lot of their features even when they are no longer usable on a car: they are waterproof, resistant and durable. In addition, since they are rubber, so it is not that difficult to cut them up or handle them when undertaking a DIY project using them.

So, why not consider making decorative objects for the garden out of them? They can be transformed into planters to hang or fix to a wall, and a lot more. Check out the ideas below!

It takes little more than a dab of brightly colored paint to turn any old tyre into a planter to attach to a wall: they work well for a boundary wall, outside a cottage or tool shed, but also on a balcony!

When you have a lot of tyres available, they can become a creative alternative to using bricks to build embankments: by arranging them in rows - a bit like you would with bags of earth - they can easily serve this purpose.

With soil inside them, you can create a sort of terracing, perfect for adding plants and flowers of all kinds.

Alternatively, stacking them on top of each other can create a unique, colorful wall (if you paint each tyre). And then you can add the plants and flowers.

Tyres are often made into footstools or seats, and could also be if filled with soil and grass.

A little color is added to a flower bed with painted tyres acting as islands for flowers and plants.

You can also hang them from tree branches to create hanging planters.

And the idea of closing up the tyre planters with a sheet of glass is a good one!

Many use the rubber from tyres as a material to create unique sculptures, such as palm leaves...

And it would also be super-cute to turn a tyre into a big clock to decorate the garden!

Would you like to recycle tyres to decorate your garden?
