Laurel is a plant to which many properties are attributed. It is traditionally known as the plant of wisdom and has been used since ancient times as a remedy for many physical ailments. For example, its digestive, antibacterial and calming properties are well known.

In addition to having these and many other qualities, laurel has the characteristic of being very fragrant. From this derives the possibility of using it to deodorize domestic environments, giving them a delicate fragrance and a pleasant and relaxing scent. It is possible to put into practice different methods, all quite valid, to allow laurel to spread its enchanting scent in the home.

Let's start by saying that to perfume the home with laurel, it is best that the leaves are dried. To do this, remove them from the branches and arrange them on a tray which you can leave for a few days in a dark and dry place. Alternatively, you can use the oven, placing the leaves on a baking tray lined with baking paper and leaving them inside for a few minutes at 180°C.

Once you have obtained your dried leaves, you can proceed with the various methods for perfuming:

  • Laurel scattered around the house: the first way to deodorize the home environment with the leaves is to place them in strategic points of the house from where the scent can spread. This happens especially if you bring them close to heat sources such as fire, radiators or lanterns. You can also decide whether to simply put them in a saucer to be positioned in pre-established points, or create decorations such as garlands or crowns which, in addition to perfuming, will look good.
  • In the radiator humidifiers: another method to take advantage of the laurel scent is to use the radiator humidifiers. Boil some dried bay leaves in water and when the infusion is ready, pour it into the humidifiers. From there, with the heat, the infusion will evaporate, filling the house with its pleasant scent.
  • In the bathroom: taking advantage of the heat and water vapor produced in the bathroom, you can use laurel to make a shower an even more pleasant and relaxing experience. Attach some to the shower head in an area where it cannot come into contact with water. You can breathe the pleasant fragrance during your shower, giving yourself a feeling of absolute well-being.
  • In the wardrobe: laurel, like many other plants, can also be used to perfume a wardrobe. Put some leaves in fabric, breathable bags and store them in drawers and wardrobes. The scent of your clothes will certainly be pleasant.
