Using just a few items, create an adorable candy dispenser to fill with treats
There are times when it is difficult to resist the desire for something sweet, and perhaps we have a small supply of treats at home to deal with these "emergencies". Candy, in particular, is a type of sweet snack that you might not want to eat regularly, but they are good for the occasional break. So why not keep them in a nice-looking candy dispenser?
For sure, glass jars and tins are decorative, but wouldn't it be nice to have a candy holder on display that's shaped like vintage candy dispensers, with the glass bowl on top? You can make one of these in a very simple DIY project, as shown by the @craftscm's account on TikTok.

As you can see in the very short video, this is a very simple project that anyone can do.
To make this candy dispenser you will need:
- A small terracotta pot, preferably with a diameter, at the base, that is equal to or slightly smaller than the base of the glass bowl you will be using;
- A glass bowl (it could perhaps be an empty jam jar, yoghurt container or something similar (as long as the shape is suitable);
- A tin lid from some glass jar that fits over the opening of your glass bowl;
- Red paint (or any other color you want: this particular jar has a Christmas theme, but you can customize as you like);
- A paint brush;
- A wooden bead;
- Hot glue.
Here's how to proceed:
- Paint the terracotta pot with the selected paint (two coats of paint will do) and let it dry thoroughly.
- Also paint the lid of the jar in the same color... but, in short, decorate it as you like!
- When the terracotta pot is perfectly dry, use the hot glue to fix the base of the glass bowl to the bottom of the inverted terracotta pot.
- Paint (if you want) the wooden bead, and then glue it to the center of the metal lid.
- Place the lid over the opening of the glass bowl.
Your candy holder is ready to fill up with your favorite candies. This is a very versatile project, which would also be a nice gift idea, and is very easy to personalize with names and other designs. You could also decorate the dispenser using decoupage, glitter or any other decorative materials you like!
