Much appreciated in the kitchen as a leavening agent, brewer's yeast is a product whose great versatility has been rediscovered in recent years - in fact, it can be used both as a food supplement and as a beauty remedy. Very rich in proteins, vitamin B and minerals such as magnesium, zinc and selenium, brewer's yeast has detoxifying and restorative properties. In cosmetics, it is used as an ingredient to combat dryness, a tonic for dry, brittle hair, skin aging as well as an anti-acne remedy.

Not just for bread, then: with brewer's yeast, one can also prepare wonderful beauty remedies for the body in the kitchen. Here's a recipe for a mask which can be applied to the face and body to rehydrate the skin.

To make this simple face and body mask, you need only a few ingredients, which you will almost certainly find in your kitchen:

  • Brewer's yeast in cubes or two teaspoons in powdered form;
  • A jar of natural yogurt;
  • The juice of half a lemon.

If you use the cubes of yeast, dissolve them first in a little water, then mix it with the yogurt and lemon juice. If, on the other hand, you use yeast powder, it will be sufficient to mix it directly into the other two ingredients. Apply the resulting paste on your face and body for 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. You will see that your skin will be more hydrated, compact and purified. You can repeat this application once a week to keep your skin hydrated.

If you want to experiment, you can vary this recipe according to your needs:

  • By adding two tablespoons of olive oil to the basic recipe, the mask will have a more moisturizing effect -excellent for use on the whole body when the skin is very dry and peeling;
  • By adding two tablespoons of raw sugar, you will get an great exfoliant to remove dead skin cells;
  • Finally, if you don't have yogurt at home to make an anti-acne mask, you can prepare a mixture by mixing two teaspoons of brewer's yeast with two tablespoons of honey and two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Apply the paste to the face (avoiding the eye area) and leave on for 30 minutes, then rinse off with a little warm water.

With these recipes, your skin will be as smooth as a baby's bottom!
