There are many items that we buy and then forget about. Accustomed to having a specific tool for our every need, it often happens that we overlook the fact that there are numerous objects in daily use that can be put to work in a way beyond the main purpose that they were created for.

This is the case, for example, with cotton buds. Accustomed to buying them and putting them in a bathroom cabinet, we remember them only when we feel the need to clean our ears (or we have to fix our make-up). But you may not know that these buds also have a useful place in household cleaning chores. Let's find out together what these are:

The first alternative use of cotton buds is cleaning the toilet: how many times have we seen those annoying black lines at the points where the lid is fixed to the bowl (and which a cleaning with a sponge or cloth do not disappear)? To remove this grime easily and effortlessly, use a cotton bud: passing it around the edges of the brackets will clean them perfectly!

Cotton buds are also useful for cleaning sinks: in the kitchen or bathroom, grime around the base of the faucet leaves annoying dark marks that are difficult to remove. By wiping these with a cotton bud, your taps will be as good as new.

Even in the kitchen, cotton buds have a role to play: you can use them to clean the coffee machine, reaching all those areas that are usually difficult to get into. In the same way, we can clean all the small appliances which are difficult to deal with by hand (or with a sponge): the hand blender, the blades of the mincer, the blender or the juice extractor, for example. Cotton buds are also valuable allies to remove the accumulation of dirt from the crevices around the stove. In short: we should also keep a jar of them ready in the kitchen!

How often have we forgotten to clean the dust that accumulates on the skirting boards when doing the floors? How many times have we remembered to do this, but lack the tools to do so properly? If we use cotton buds, we can accomplish this easily! In fact, any difficult-to-access place where dust accumulates, can be easily cleaned using cotton buds.

And if you believe they are not very eco-friendly tools, remember that today there are also biodegradable and compostable versions too, such as bamboo cotton buds! Have you ever used them? Do you already know that there are alternative ways to use them?
