To clean the house, we use many different products, and if we really have a passion for household chores, we are likely to have multiple different detergents, degreasers, stain removers to hand - depending on the materials that need to be cleaned. Everyone has their favorite brands - some prefer powders to liquids, for example. In short, the types are not lacking, but we do not always with our favorite product to hand when we need it (or, perhaps, we are searching for an alternative).

One of these alternatives is dishwashing liquid, which can be an excellent substitute in emergencies. And it's better still if it is of a delicate or organic formulation. Read on to find out more:

  • Clothes with sweat stains: if you want sweat stains to disappear in one wash in the washing machine, you can do a pre-wash with dishwashing liquid. Pour a drop on the stain, then sprinkle it with a teaspoon of baking soda and scrub gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Alternatively to baking soda, you can also try an active oxygen stain remover powder. You can also create a more liquid mixture, to be rubbed by hand, combining everything with a gentle bleach or hydrogen peroxide. In this case, add a drop of gentle bleach, or hydrogen peroxide. Then put everything to soak in warm water for half an hour, thereafter proceeding with a regular wash.
  • Degrease kitchen furniture: not having your favorite degreaser, even a drop of dishwashing liquid dissolved in hot water can do wonders! Maybe a little more soap will be needed in the difficult places, and it will have to be rinsed off well with a microfiber cloth. But when it dries, the result will be fantastic.
  • Floors: a little dishwashing liquid dissolved in hot water can be used to wash on the floor when you don't have your favorite detergent to hand. And even for oily stains - perhaps on the garage floor - sprinkle a few drops of dishwashing liquid on them, scrub with a floor brush, aided with a little water, and then clean everything up by rinsing the area thoroughly.
  • Sanitary ware: just as you may already do for the kitchen sink, you can use dishwashing liquid on the bathroom fixtures, including the shower cubicle and bathtub.
  • Eyeglass lenses: if you have to wash dirty lenses, use a drop of dishwashing liquid, rub a little and rinse off thoroughly, drying carefully (it's better to blot using absorbent paper than to rub). But be careful not to do this on lenses that are mirrored, treated with colored films and similar: dishwashing liquid could damage these types of lenses!

In what other ways do you use dishwashing liquid?
