Making the stove top gleam when cleaning the kitchen is always hard work. And sometimes the effort made doesn't even give one the desired results. Burnt fat deposits form frequently and thoroughly cleaning away this dirt becomes rather difficult.

There are excellent products on the market made especially for this task, but they are chemical substances which are highly abrasive and need to be handled with care. So, why not try some natural and more affordable alternatives? There are some really good ones whose results may surprise you.

The products most commonly used in this regard are: sodium bicarbonate, lemon and alcohol vinegar. They can be used in different ways and in different procedures. You will achieve excellent results in all cases.

  • For baking soda, the best way to use it on dirt is to make an abrasive compound that dissolves the encrustations. Just pour some water, a little at a time, in the baking soda until you get a creamy mixture. At this point, pass the cream on the components that you have already dismantled and placed in a bowl. Let the cream act until it is dry. Then wipe off everything with a non-abrasive sponge, rinse off  and let dry.
  • For alcohol vinegar, the best way to use it on burnt fat is to mix it with hot water. You can boil half a liter of hot water with half a liter of vinegar. After boiling, turn off and immerse burners and plates in the mix. Leave them in for about ten minutes and then use a non-abrasive sponge to remove the dirt. Rinse off carefully and let dry.
  • For lemon, it is undoubtedly its acid composition that makes it a perfect ally to remove dirt. You can enhance its effectiveness by combining it with vinegar and hot water (following the procedure already described above for the mixture of water and alcohol vinegar). If, on the other hand, the dirt is really tough, you can use it in conjunction with salt, for an enhanced abrasive. In this case, moisten the oven's components with water beforehand. Sprinkle their surfaces with some salt and lemon. Let these substances act for a few minutes (10 or 15 minutes should be fine). Their combined action will dissolve the dirt encrustations and you can remove everything with a cloth, rinse off and let dry.

Give all three methods a try and find out which one works best for you. Happy cleaning!
