When a mattress is stained, it is difficult to bring it back to its former glory. Being very bulky, we can't just pick them up and throw them in the washing machine. And moving them is also challenging. So can we deal with this problem? And above all, how can we prevent stains from forming in the first place?

There are several chemicals that can be used for this, but very often they are very expensive or are toxic. Perhaps not everyone knows that there are also economical and natural alternatives that can be used and very often, they are always at to hand at home! Let's discover 3 foolproof cleaning methods together:

Regular cleaning

First of all, let's remember that it is good to air the room daily and expose the mattress to fresh air at least once a week. For a more thorough, routine cleaning of the mattress, it is necessary to wash the cover (if washable), at 60 degrees; before putting it in the washing machine, remove any stains with a mild stain remover, leaving the remover to act for about 15-30 minutes.

Then we can vacuum the mattress on both sides. First prepare a mixture of bicarbonate and a few drops of essential oil (tea tree oil is recommended). After having sprayed the mix all over the mattress, use the vacuum cleaner to remove any excess.

If we have a steamer at home, we can use this to clean and sanitize the mattress in one, quick step.

Cleaning latex mattresses

Cleaning a latex mattress is very simple: simply mix water and a few drops of lemon in a small bowl, dip a cloth in this, wring it out and then wipe it over the entire surface of the mattress. We leave the mix to act for a few hours, until it dries. The mattress will be perfectly clean.

Remove stains

If we have to deal with stubborn stains, then we will have to do a deeper cleaning. Pour a cup of hydrogen peroxide and half a cup of dish soap into a spray bottle, mixing the two liquids together properly. Then, spray the mixture on the stain and leave it to act for 2 minutes, then rub in. Thereafter, pass a damp cloth over the stain and let it dry. The stain will disappear!
