How to fold a long dress so that it takes up as little space as possible

They reasons range from packing a suitcase, to dealing with a shallow closet (and which may involve vacuum-packing the garments). Different needs that have one thing in common: gaining as much space as possible.
The strategies that can be used to do this are shown on various video tutorials on the web. In one of these, posted to TikTok, shows the step-by-step method of folding a long dress to reduce into a small, compact roll that can be conveniently stored anywhere.
The video in question was published by user @thefoldinglady and the technique that can be summarized in a few simple steps:
- Place the dress on a flat surface and fold it horizontally, in two halves.
- Then fold the two sides of the dress vertically.
- When you overlap the second side with the first, fold the end outwards.
- You should now have a kind of elongated, narrow trapezoid, with a central flap.
- Ensure the garment is completely flattened.
- Roll the dress up to obtain a small and compact roll.
The roll thus obtained is now ready to be stored wherever you want.
The technique is perfect for long dresses with narrow straps but, with a few small adjustments, it can easily be adapted to other types of dress, large or small.
