The habit of keeping reading glasses in a shirt or jacket pocket or hanging them from around the neck of a shirt, is quite widespread. But doing so increases the risk of losing or breaking them. The safest way is to place them inside the breast pocket, with the lens facing the chest and an arm placed outside.

To consume less wax when using a candle, the best strategy is to shorten the wick frequently. The flame will be smaller and the candle will last longer.

The proper way to store eggs is not to put them in the egg compartment in the refrigerator door. This is the "hottest" area of the fridge and subject to temperature variations (when the door is opened/closed). It is more advisable to keep the eggs stored in their carton on the shelves of the fridge where the temperature is best suited for their conservation.

The same goes for milk. We always tend to store milk in the drinks/bottles area, but the temperature here is not low enough to ensure proper and safe storage. It is best to place milk cartons on the middle shelf of the fridge.

Keeping bread fresher for longer

A tip that many of us use to keep bread fresh for a long time is to put the loaf in a tightly closed plastic bag. However, not everyone knows that the best way is to store the bread as single portions, i.e. keep individual slices of bread in its own bag. This will make it easier to try to remove all the air and seal the bags properly.

To reuse disposable razors - and without the fear that they will rust or get mold and bacteria on them - try to keep them clean and stored in an area where there is no humidity. Leaving used razors in the bathroom is, without a doubt, a mistake.

Many people just toss the detergent capsules into the washing machine along with the laundry. In reality, to be effective, tablets should be placed in the bottom of the drum before putting the washing inside.
