Fighting the summer heat with just a fan is not impossible!

We all know how difficult it is to cool down the house during the periods of scorching summer heat. Especially when you do not have an air conditioner - or when you want to avoid using it too often to offset consumption and costs or to avoid health problems - the battle against the heat becomes very difficult.

And a fan is not always the answer, because if the air is too hot, the fan will only move the hot air around without cooling it down. There are, however, some tips that, when put into practice, can circumvent this problem and can give us relief on sultry days. Read on to find out what these tips are:

There are basically two ways to get a fan to cool the hot air:

As for the first method, it is basically a question of creating a current. It is a useful method, especially during summer evenings, when the air is cool outside but the interior the home it is still hot.

In this case, it is useful to open the windows and place a fan in front of them. The fan creates a current, conveying the fresh air from the outside into the home. What could help you optimize the results is to make sure you close the window properly during the day to block the entry of hot air and to wet the floor with cold water and a damp rag. In this way, the interior of the home should remain cooler and, in the evening, the current created by the fan will be even more refreshing.

The second method involves the use of ice to cool the air which is blown by the fan.

This is a tip that many already practice, but sometimes, it is done in an inefficient manner. Simply putting ice in a bowl in front of the fan can, of course, cool down the air. After a while, however, the ice will melt and could pose a danger if positioned near to outlet sockets.

A clever alternative is to put some freezer bricks or frozen water bottles in a basin or on a tray and cover them with a damp cloth. These frozen objects will cool the fan's air down without any risk or inconvenience. Obviously, you can carry out this operation for a fan attached to the ceiling, taking care to take all the necessary precautions and to find the most suitable place to place the frozen items.

Try putting these tips into practice and your summer will certainly be more enjoyable and refreshing.
