The garbage will always generate bad smells, in the kitchen or bathroom, even when every surface of the room has been washed and is immaculate and fragrant. So, while the garbage pail is filling up, why not deodorize it effectively and economically? You can do this using cotton balls, or even some kitchen paper (whichever you have laying around). Cotton balls, for example, that are dirty and have to be thrown away, can be soaked in a few drops of an essential oil (of your choice), and thus become useful deodorizers when popped into the garbage pail.

It is annoying to have to demist the bathroom mirror every time you use hot water, but there is a trick that prevents you from having to do it every time: just spread a layer of shaving foam (white, gel-free) on the mirror's surface, then remove it by simply rubbing it off with a cloth, and without rinsing. For days afterward, there will be no more fogging of the mirror!

If the vacuum cleaner does not have a fitting that allows you to get into the most inaccessible of nooks and crannies, such as the sliding rails of the windows, you can use cardboard tubes you find in toilet paper rolls - they will become a sort of DIY vacuum cleaner attachment.

A video that has gone viral is from Maja East that shows the very simple tip which shows how to place the lids of the pots into the handles of the pots themselves, avoiding leaving them laying around the kitchen. It's handy tip when there is not a lot of space available, and it works fine with most models of pots.

Usually, when we cook broccoli, we first separate the edible heads (florets) from the inedible stalk / stem. We could save ourselves a lot of time by putting the entire piece of broccoli upside down in the water, with the stem sticking out, and then, when the tops are cooked to perfection, take the broccoli out and cut the stem off. Softened by being boiled, this operation will be much quicker and easier!

Cutting cherry tomatoes in half individually, one by one, always wastes time. But if you put them between two plates (or even between a cutting board and a flat lid, such as those of food containers), arranged in a single layer, and pushing down on the top cover (or upper lid), you only need to pass a long and sharp knife through the opening between the two plates (or between cutting board and lid) -  and with a single movement, you will cut them all in half at the same time.

Did you already know about these tips and tricks?
