The "laundry stripping" trend is very popular on TikTok recently: it is the practice of soaking clothes or linen in cleaning products in order to remove all the dirt from the fabrics which not even normal wash cycles can eliminate. Literally, iit means "stripping the laundry bare".

To the ever-growing list of experiments of this type of cleaning, carpets have been added. Carpets are, in fact, amongst the most difficult items to wash. One of the TikTok account users that have tried their hand at laundry stripping of a carpet is @gentleawakening, who tried the technique with a large, rolled up rug. They left it to soak - as is usual in these videos - in the bathtub. Read on to find out more:

The products used in hot water in the tub are: 2 laundry detergent tablets, 1 cup of laundry detergent powder, 1 tablespoon of active oxygen stain remover, laundry soda crystals, and a scoop of perfumed laundry pearls.

After having poured and mixed all these products in the tub, the carpet is laid into the water (by necessity a little folded up) and moved around as much as possible so that it becomes thoroughly soaked in water, and to allow the detergents to begin to act. After a few minutes, the water begins to turn dark, and becomes more and more dense as time passes. You can see this process here.

In various laundry stripping videos, however, not all these ingredients are necessarily used together. Always be mindfullof mixing substances that could produce dangerous reactions. And in the particular case of carpets - which perhaps can be made of from delicate yarns - it is always essential to first ascertain which types of detergents or other ingredients can be used for thr washing safely.

Sometimes, this deep cleaning involves the use of laundry detergent, baking soda or borax. What never seems to be missing is the active oxygen stain remover.

Also, at the end of this procedure, you will have to spend some time cleaning off the residue that remains at the bottom of the bathtub!

Have you ever tried any of these laundry stripping experiments before?
