Have you ever ironed a t-shirt, dress or shirt and found them unexpectedly stained? In some cases it can be due to the dark, colored spots on the iron: these are burns due to various causes such as, for example, the accumulation of dust or residue of synthetic material.

To avoid its formation, you should clean the bottom of the iron immediately after each use - but do not worry if the damage is already done - you can in fact, intervene and sort this out thanks to a simple but effective tip: a tip which involves the use of paracetamol tablets. By following our advice step by step, the iron will be returned to as good as new in a few steps and you can start using it again as normal, and without fear of damaging any garments.

Before moving on to the actual cleaning of the burnt bottom of the iron (the foot), get a pair of tweezers and at least one paracetamol tablet. If the foot is particularly blackened, it is better to keep at least 2 tablets to hand - they could come in handy. You can also use expired tablets for this purpose.

At this point, heat up the iron by setting the thermostat to the highest temperature. There is no need to wait too long - usually 2-3 minutes is enough for the foot to heat up properly. Do not forget this step because it is essential for the cleaning operation to be successful.

Once the desired temperature is reached (hottest setting), pick up the paracetamol tablet with tweezers and rub it very well over the entire scorched area of the foot, until you have removed all the blackened parts.

This may take some time and patience, especially if the foot is particularly stained: in this case use a second paracetamol tablet, rubbing it on the plate exactly like the first, until the dark areas are completely removed. If you are unable to remove the burned areas even with the second tablet, the foot could be too damaged and therefore should be considered unusable. It's probably time to buy a new iron.

If not, while the iron's foot is still hot - and being careful not to burn yourself - continue by cleaning it thoroughly with the help of a cloth. Finally, when your iron is free of all stains, it is ready to be used again.

You just have to try this method step by step as described above and you will see how effective it is.
