Crocheting allows you to take on a myriad of projects with your own hands, including creating lots of baby clothes. Often the projects undertaken to furnish a wardrobe for children - with their small sizes, bright colors and simple shapes - are also ideal for those who are new to this technique or want to practice their crocheting skills.

Among the clothes that are used by newborns and children who are about to take their first steps, are soft shoes. These items can, in fact, be made from wool or cotton using the crochet technique. A very nice model to test yourself with are moccasins, which can then be customized with various combinations of colors, bows and other details.

There are certains brands that have made moccasins their focus in the world of footwear, and when we see the miniature versions available for children, they always look adorable. Recreating the features of miniature shoes with crochet is not very difficult. These are made with a combination of basic stitches (as well as the others listed here), such as half double crochet and double crochet. To create the protruding edge, work a round in the rib, and then decorate it with a contrasting yarn for the lace that runs around the neck of the shoe and creates the bow in front.

Moccasins made all in one color are also very nice, perhaps choosing a shade that is reminiscent of the leather of traditional moccasins. With a thicker yarn or a tightly knitted stitch, you can add a bow that resembles the thick laces of adult moccasins!

At the postion of the bows, then, you can use tabs: the upper will always have the shape with defined contours typical of the moccasin, but then the addition of a tongue with a button on the side will more closely resemble traditional children's shoes. A perfect combination of an adult model with one designed for the little ones, and they are always able to be customized by choosing your favorite color combinations.

Have you ever crochetted baby shoes? They are quick and easy projects that could turn out to be an excellent gift idea and can even become a precious memory to keep for the future!
