Keep kitchen countertops free with these simple ideas for tidying up

When we spend time in the kitchen preparing important lunches or even just for a quick meal, we always find it convenient to have the surfaces / countertops of the kitchen units cleared, so that we can use them for our cooking tasks. Sometimes, however, we find surfaces and shelves full of various objects and utensils that we need. However, there are many objects that we don't always need to have immediately to hand, and they could be arranged in such a way as to take up less space and leave the surfaces themselves free.

To help us tidy up in this way, we can resort to a variety of creative tips, recycling objects or buying useful ones to use in the most efficient way possible. Here are some examples to inspire you:

If there is no free window sill, or a basket or shelf to place dish detergent and other products that are used near the sink, we can use a tray, even a raised one will do - so it is also easier to stuff around and clean everything.

A tray also helps a lot to group bottles, jars, herbs and anything else which finds itself on the shelf. The round ones look great in corners.

And there is plenty of choice in terms of materials and models for these storage boxes.

If there are plates or cups or even jars of food and other similar containers laying around the kitchen because there is not enough space inside the kitchen units, perhaps it is because they are not used to the maximum: help yourself out by installing portable shelves!

You can also get rid of the knife block and without having to occupy all the space of a deep drawer by using a knife holder of the more "intelligent" model that is much more compact.

And for pans and cutting boards, instead of them being piled around all over, they can find slot using special dividers inside the kitchen units - even under the sink can be a place for them.

A basket can help organize the cookbooks we use most often.

Never forget the usefulness of tracks: they do not necessarily have to be on the oven's backsplash and can also be mounted on the sides of the kitchen units in the least busy areas.

Another way to hang ladles is under shelves and wall units, with simple hooks screwed in by hand.

On the backsplash, in addition to the ladle rack, there could be space made for a small shelf for cups used every breakfastime.

And if you no longer know where to keep your recycled plastic bags for the garbage, a plastic bottle could become the ideal dispenser!

What ideas have you adopted to make your kitchen more spacious?
