Old bicycles in the garden: recycle them as an original and unusual decoration!

An old bicycle that is damaged in such a way that it can no longer be used, or is reduced to a condition such that repairing it would be an unacceptable expense, is an object to get rid of ... unless you have the space in the garden to allocate it to. Old bikes, both those with a classic and vintage shape and the more modern mountain bikes, become truly fascinating decorations in the garden.

They are usually completely repainted, including the tires and wheel spokes, the handlebars,, the chain... everything! And then you can add baskets full of plants, so that the bike really becomes part of the garden. Check out the ideas below:

Flowers in the basket in front of the handlebars, but maybe also decorations in the one behind the seat. And you could then change the plants according to the season, perhaps even adding themed decorations for various parties.

You can hang and place baskets full of flowers from the bike, perhaps even a decoration to be used on an important occasion (like a wedding, for example).

Seeing a bunch of flowers sitting prominently in the midst of the green of the garden, or even in a vegetable patch, makes one think that the bike has been forgotten there and that Mother Nature has made it her own.

You can also use tricycles and any other features of a bicycle / tricyle to fill them with flowers and arrange them in the garden.

One of the places where this type of feature is usually installed is up against the trunk of a tree, as if it had been parked there a long time ago.

But it wouldn't be bad parked up along a long, narrow flowerbed that runs alongside the garden fence.

They can also become the prominent feature in nondescript corner of the garden, especially between two high and featureless walls. Especially if everything (including the tires) are painted in a popping color.

You can use the baskets hung on the handlebars also for compositions of dried flowers, especially in autumn and winter.

In addition to the classic wicker baskets, you could decorate the bike with wooden boxes, even painted in the same color as the bicycle itself.

And if you only have the bicylce's wheels, you can also use those as decorations in the garden - for example to make fences more colorful.

Or they could become a framework to use to create a very unique type of wreath.

Have you ever thought of decorating your garden with an old bicycle?
