If your garden is a bit boring, adding some flower pots could make a big difference. Or even adding some vases/planters with succulents, aromatic herbs or perennials could be nice. Nature offers us an infinite number of ways for decorating our outdoor spaces with greenery - all we have to decide is what and where.

Planters are ideal for filling small spaces, on decking, terraces or balconies, as well as in the middle of the garden or in the center of flower beds. And these planters/pots/vases can be obtained from creative recycling. Check out the ideas below:

Tree trucks - cut at various heights: each one becomes a perfect pedestal for flower pots!

Concrete pots: you can create them yourself very cheaply, using buckets and other similar objects as molds.

Don't forget that even damaged teapots, or old jugs that that are no longer being used, can become attractive flower vases.

And recycled objects (like the teapot shown here) make for adorable, unique planters.

With wooden boxes you can create mini, raised flower beds where you can grow all the herbs you want, ready for use in the kitchen.

And if terracotta vases and amphorae are timeless classics, recycled metal containers are certainly viable, elegant alternatives.

An old, wooden staircase becomes the "stage" for a large number of near-identical pots, containing same type of plant: this is certainly an eye-catcher.

Metal or wooden vats/tubs that "pour" the flowers onto the ground: a stunning display.

It can be fun to dig around in the attic or in the closets for objects you can convert into planters.

And if you want to take advantage of climbing plants, why not choose an umbrella-shaped support?

Even old metal tools, like shovels and dustpans, become attractive planters.

Old light fittings? They can act as a trellis for a vine, placed in a pots or even in a flower bed!
