Every plant that we plant in the garden should always be placed in the right place. This placement should be determined according to not only its cultivation needs, but also to the aesthetic impact it will have once it grows and/or flowers. Correct placement of plants is one of the pillars of the art of landscaping, and is the prime factor which goes into the successful creation of truly enchanting corners in our gardens.

One of these landscaping techniques is the use of arch-shaped pylons and frames that can beautifully enhance a pathway, an entrance or even a simple walkway around the outside of our homes. Additionally, various types of climbing plants (or creepers) will be able to grow on them - from the iconic, ubiquitous climbing roses to clematis, jasmine, wisteria, and more. Get your landscaping projects inspiration by the reading about the ideas provided below:

The trellises (or framework) can be made of wrought iron, and then attached to the fence, so as to basically become one with it and the gate that it is positioned over like a canopy.

And a simple iron pipe or rod can really be enough to provide support to the selected climbing plant: this plant will then become the one which will eventually cover the arch with its vegetation and, hopefully, its abundant array of flowers.

Not only roses, but any plant with a climbing ability can be used for these decorations - even those varieties that are used to cover fencing nets, thereby effectively forming hedges.

If possible, the idea of painting gates and entrance doors in colors that match the shades of the flowers that frame them is a very creative touch.

Very often, again, the archway framework is an elements that can be added just in front of the entrance gate, and thereby creates a useful and natural canopy. And the frame can be painted in many more colors than just the traditional white or dark green.

Whatever plant you choose, it will probably only bloom and produce flowers for a few weeks during the year - but even when it is just a canopy of green leaves, it will look enchanting, and adding a few lanterns will make it appear even more magical.

Jasmine or false jasmine (also known as Solano, Potato Vine or Bridal Veil) will provide life to a white and fragrant arch in the summer months.

There are also trellises which, instead of being shaped as a round arch, attach to the external walls of the house and have a bridge-like appearance.

To create an arched entrance structure in an area of the garden, such as at the entrance to the vegetable garden, you could also use plants: growing and training wicker in a way so that it creates an arch shape is a splendid, green idea.

The "feet" of the arch can planted just off to the sides of the hedges that line the walkway.

...or having its base in each flanking flowerbed, and the arch will be the element that unites them from a visual point of view.

And don't just stop at using roses: even wisteria and clematis can create sensational flower arches!
