Having an orderly house is not simply a question of aesthetics: when there are no objects lying around that hinder passageway, and when you can move freely through a room without the fear of dropping things or knocking things over, then living in our home becomes a much more peaceful and satisfying experience. It is certainly not easy to always keep everything in order, but it becomes really impossible when available spaces are not used efficiently.

To organize yourself in various rooms, use some versatile and inexpensive furniture or accessories, such as the ones you see below.

When looking for furniture for a room in some store, it is not always certain that the solutions proposed are going to be suitable for us. But there are times that we can discover a piece of furniture intended for, for example, a bathroom but which will actually solve our problems storing cans, flours, cooking accessories and other pantry items in the kitchen!

On kitchen shelves it is inevitable that a whole series of objects and ingredients that are used most often accumulate: if you want to keep these close to hand, but without the accompanying clutter, put them all in a basket. It can be a wooden crate, an old, high-sided baking tin, a basket made of cloth, wood, wicker, or even cake stands. In short, anything that goes with the style of the kitchen.

No place for the microwave? You can create your own table for it by just stacking wooden boxes or building a special cabinet using recycled wood. Even on top of a shelf, for example, you could place a sturdy wooden box and next to it a narrower box with its opening facing outward. The microwave can be placed on top of the first box. You will also have space to put dishes or other objects in the compartment created by the second, narrower box that is placed alongside it.

In any room, from the bathroom to the kitchen pantry, use containers of all kinds to tidy up the furniture and shelves. Transparent ones, often with pull-out trays or drawers, are ideal for immediately seeing where everything is.

And they keep order without creating visual clutter, even among the items needed for washing.

Spices and jars in the kitchen: if they have a metal cap or top you can keep them in order by using magnetic strips, so as to exploit the space even on the side of the cabinets...

...or even using the space under the wall units or under the splash guard.

Don't underestimate the convenience of folding furniture - there are many models available to buy or you can find DIY projects that are perfect for transforming areas into extra worktops, dining tables or desks as needed.

No space to drain the dishes next to the sink? If you have a double basin, you can use a dish drainer that covers just one of the tubs. Otherwise, there are those drainers that are foldable and can be removed when they are not needed.
