Among the materials with which you can choose to cover, or better still build with, stone is perhaps one of the most fascinating and desired: depending on the type and the way in which it covers the visible surfaces, it can give a rustic or modern feel to furnishings, but always inserts a natural element into the environment that gives a unique balance.

They can be rough and porous stones, polished slabs, bricks or even round pebbles that just protrude from the plaster. It can be a material that emphasizes certain elements in the architecture, a natural accent wall in the living room, the kitchen backsplash, the bottom of the shower area or a bedroom decoration. See below how many ways you could use stone to cover the walls of the house.

White pebbles, laid flat, to fill the kitchen backsplash: when real ones cost too much, you can also consider using those with adhesive coatings that mimic their appearance!

Rough rocks that stick out from the plaster: when the original wall of the house is done in this way it would be a shame to hide it, but increasing the groating between the rocks is the compromise for those who want a more modern look. And even in this case, there are solutions that mimic these ideas.

Not only the walls of rooms can be decorated in this way, but also the sides of important features of the architecture, such as an island that divides the kitchen from the rest of the house.

River stone accent wall: for real or a clever art technique that uses realistic imagery to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects exists in three dimensions (trompe l'oeil)?

Stone on the walls goes very well with white plaster and wood on the walls and the fixtures, perhaps even the slightly more antique type ones.

Would you like to see the water cascading down the stone cladding of a shower? With real stones the effect is splendid, even if perhaps the wallpapers of the various resistant and washable types are easier to manage at the time of cleaning.

An excellent compromise full of style: a sort of mosaic of small, smooth stones, fixed by the copious use of stucco between them, so that the wall is as smooth as possible.

Stone bricks in a large loft furnished in a classic style: a very charming, eclectic whole.

Scandinavian style that embraces more rustic elements - another irresistible combination.

In the bedroom, the plaster does not cover everything and rather reveals a portion of the layers underneath: here it is done with bricks, but there are also examples with stones!
