Always losing your remote controls? Try out these tips so you don't have to go looking for them ever again

We all know how annoying it is to finally sit down in front of the TV and then not be able to find the remote control. Although there may be an "official" spot for where it should be kept, this often tends to be a "forgotten" rule.

Fortunately, there are remedies for this inconvenience and we describe these below:

How many times have you searched for the remote control for ages, only to find it stuck between the sofa cushions or under a piece of furniture? A simple tip in this case is to tie your remote control to an improvised, "bulky" key ring. It doesn't matter what you use to attach your remote control, but its the size of the attached object that is of fundamental importance. A tennis ball, a stuffed animal, a name plate: there are many objects that can serve this purpose. The important thing is that the attached object is sufficiently bulky enough to prevent the remote control from getting stuck between the sofa cushions (or ending up hidden beneath the furniture).

One way to ensure your remote controls remain where they should be is to use an extendable retainer cable gadget that prevents you from misplacing them. One end attaches to the remote, while the cable housing can be secured to the TV stand, coffee table, arm rest, etc. The cable is retractable and will allow you to use the remote without any hassles.

And if you don't want to buy a retainer cable unit, a simple piece of string - with one end tied to the remote control and the other end to the sofa - can fulfil the same purpose.

Create a place to store your remote controls in on the armrest of your sofa: using wooden boards and a fabric pocket, you can easily make a sofa storer (as shown in the picture) to store your remote controls in. Additionally, you get the benefit of also getting a useful surface for your beverages, snacks or your smartphone.

Another smart way to stop losing your remote control in your sofa cushions is to put some pockets on one (or more) of your sofa cushions. You can simply pop your remotes into these handy, nearby pockets after use and you'll then always know where to look to find them.

5. Side table

What if you placed a small, narrow side table next to your sofa? This could become the new spot dedicated to storing your remotes. Not only this: you can also store newspapers and magazines in this side table (as shown here), and use the top for your other goodies.
