Kitchen paper towels: not just for wiping up spills
Amongst the things that can be found in most homes, absorbent kitchen towels/paper is definitely one: this product helps us out a lot when it comes to cleaning our homes. Wiping up spills, acting as napkins, and for a myriad other tasks, kitchen towels are a great cleaning ally.
But have you ever used kitchen towels in the refrigerator?

We are not referring to a case where something has been spilled in the fridge. Nor are we talking about deodorizing and cleaning the internal surfaces of the refrigerator with kitchen towels soaked in a little water and vinegar (which, by the way, cleans and deodorizes very well!).
This is a tip to preserve food for longer using kitchen towels - specifically, fresh vegetables.
In fact, if you like lettuce or other leafy vegetables, the best way to keep them fresh for longer, is to wrap the stems or leaves in a bit of damp kitchen towelling and then put the wrapped items into plastic bags. This will keep the veggies fresh for longer.
Another tip is to simply line the vegetable drawer, with damp kitchen towels. This way, the necessary humidity levels will be maintained to keep your veggies fresh.
When it is better NOT to use absorbent kitchen towels

It's best to avoid using kitchen towels when you want to:
- Clean glass and mirrors: it is better to use soft cloths that do not leave lint, so as not to leave streaks or risk scratching the glass;
- Dusting the TV screen: kitchen paper towels are slightly abrasive, so there is a risk of scratching the screen!
- Cleaning the lenses of your glasses: again, kitchen towels could scratch the lenses.
