Washing the floors is a chore many of us do daily. But how many times have we looked at our floors immediately after washing them and still finding them dirty and/or marked or streaked?

Not all floors, as we know, are the same, and for some, cleaning them can be challenging. Depending on the material used for the flooring, there are some natural products you can use in your cleaning efforts.

Below, we suggest some ingenious tips to ensure your floors always turn out perfectly clean and streak-free.

The first thing to do when cleaning the floors is to remove all the dirt, dust, lint and hair. If you have a vacuum cleaner, this task will certainly be easier, but what if you only have a broom? As incredibly useful as it is, a broom is not always effective in picking up dust, hair and lint.

A very simple and ingenious tip is to cover your broom with a plastic bag, which will produce an electrostatic charge and will pick up dust, hair and lint, preventing these from spreading around the house. At the end of your cleaning chore, all you need to do is (carefully) remove the bag and throw it in the garbage.

What products can we use to wash our floors effectively? Let's find out together:

To eliminate unpleasant odors or unsightly marks, scuffs and streaking, there are various natural products we can use to wash our floors:

  • An extremely effect method is to use a mixture of water and vinegar; just dilute 500 ml of white vinegar in 4 liters of water, adding a few drops of an essential oil of your choice, if you also want a pleasant scent;
  • Mix a handful of coarse salt with a few tablespoons of vinegar and dissolve this in 4 liters of water; do not use this mixture on marble floors, which could be damaged;
  • Marseille soap can also be useful for this cleaning: prepare a detergent by dissolving 100 g of flaked or grated soap in a liter of water, then putting 100 ml of this into a bucket with 4 liters of water;
  • Make a mixture of 4 liters of water, 100 ml of alcohol (food grade alcohol is best) and 4 tablespoons of bicarbonate; this mixture will also be suitable for washing stoneware and marble floors;
  • Finally, for wooden and parquet floors, we recommend a mixture of 3 liters of water, 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate and 1 tablespoon of Marseille soap.
