A very effective ingredient in eliminating bad smells is lemon - an easy and cheap product to find and with many beneficial properties. You can easily make your own cleaner by squeezing out the juice of two lemons and mixing this with 200ml of water and a teaspoon of baking soda. Carefully mix all the ingredients until a homogeneous mixure is formed. Then, use this mixture to clean the appliance as follows:
- Remove the detergent dispensing tray from its housing and place it in a bowl large enough to contain it entirely;
- Thoroughly wet the tray with the mixture;
- Leave the tray to soak for 10 minutes to dislodge the dirt; in case of particularly stubborn spots, place the tray in a plastic bag and leave this on for about 15 minutes;
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water, scrubbing the dirtiest areas with an old toothbrush and carefully cleaning all the crevices;
- Once done, the tray will be perfectly clean and can be put back into its housing.
You should do this chore once every two months, increasing the frequency to once a month if you use the washing machine very often. Regular use of lemon juice will allow you to keep your washing machine perfectly clean and sanitized at all times. And bad smells will just be a distant memory.
