When it comes to cleaning thoroughly, it's important to take care of even the smallest details. However, there are some areas which are particularly challenging to clean and one of these is the grouting around tiles.

In the bathroom, in the shower or in the kitchen, tiles protect our walls from excess humidity. But for this very reason, they tend to get a build-up of dirt and mold, especially on the grouting (which turns black).

Routine cleaning often does not remove this blackening. So, how do you clean the grouting between tiles? We reveal the secret below:

To clean the grouting, it is not necessary to resort to using expensive, aggressive, bleaching products. In fact, in our pantries, we probably have the (cheap) ingredients to make an effective grout-cleaner:

  • Baking soda: the remedy of choice when it comes to cleaning, baking soda is very effective thanks to its whitening and slightly abrasive properties (and will also remove any bad smells). All you need to do is mix it with a little hot water to create a smooth paste, which you will apply directly to the joints using a small brush. Leave the paste on for at least 30 minutes, then wipe clean using a rag.
  • Vinegar: another indispensable ingredient for cleaning, you can apply vinegar directly on the joints with a spray bottle and leave on to act at least 30 minutes before removing with a rag.

In case of very stubborn dirt, you can combine the two previous remedies by applying the paste of bicarbonate and water and then spraying it with vinegar. An effervescence reaction will happen which will increase the cleaning power of these ingredients. Let it act for 5 minutes, scrub the joints with a brush and then remove any excess with a clean cloth.

Your grouting will be immaculate again!
